Margaret River

A low-rise, laid-back town of approximately 4,500 inhabitants, Margaret River serves as an ideal local base to explore the surrounding wine region.
Kick off your visit on the 15th (Wed): see majestic marine mammals with a dolphin and whale watching tour and then kick back and relax at Meelup Beach. On the 16th (Thu), you'll have a packed day of sightseeing: identify plant and animal life at Sunflowers Animal Farm, then get a taste of the local shopping with Margaret River Chocolate Company, then explore the striking landscape at Canal Rocks, and finally do a tasting at Howard Park - Margaret River Winery and Cellar Door.

Sydney to Margaret River is an approximately 13-hour combination of flight and bus. You can also do a combination of bus and flight; or drive. Albany

Founded as a military outpost in 1826, Albany is the oldest town in Western Australia, just barely gaining this title by being settled two years earlier than Fremantle and Perth.
Discover out-of-the-way places like Little Beach and Princess Royal Fortress. Visit The Albany Convict Gaol & Museum and HMAS Perth for their historical value. Spend the 18th (Sat) observing fascinating marine mammals with a dolphin and whale watching tour. The adventure continues: tour the pleasant surroundings at Middleton Beach, pause for some photo ops at Desert Mounted Corps Memorial, admire the landmark architecture of The Church of Saint John the Evangelist, and kick back and relax at Emu Point.

You can drive from Margaret River to Albany in 4.5 hours. Alternatively, you can take a bus; or do a combination of bus and flight. In May, plan for daily highs up to 22°C, and evening lows to 10°C. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 19th (Sun) so you can travel to Broome.

A relaxed town of tree-shaded streets and scenic coastal stretches, Broome gained renown as a center of the pearling industry in the late 19th century.
On the 20th (Mon), take an in-depth tour of Broome Historical Museum, then get a new perspective on things with Boat Tours & Water Sports, and then stroll the grounds of Japanese Cemetery. On the 21st (Tue), you'll have a packed day of sightseeing: head outdoors with Staircase To The Moon, enjoy the sand and surf at Broome Town Beach, then get a taste of the local shopping with Broome Gallery, and finally take in the architecture and atmosphere at Catholic Diocese of Broome.

You can fly from Albany to Broome in 6 hours. Alternatively, you can do a combination of bus, train, and flight; or drive. While traveling from Albany, expect much hotter days and a bit warmer nights in Broome, ranging from highs of 38°C to lows of 22°C. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 21st (Tue) so you can travel to Cow Bay.

Port Douglas

A holiday in Port Douglas balances an activity-filled getaway with plenty of opportunities to relax, thanks to its proximity to the Great Barrier Reef and bustling beach life.
Get in touch with nature at Safaris and Hartley's Crocodile Adventures. Spend the 23rd (Thu) among aquatic life with a scuba or snorkeling tour. It doesn't end there: enjoy the sand and surf at Four Mile Beach and view the masterpieces at Ngarru Gallery.
