You'll discover tucked-away gems like Wangi Falls and Buley Rockhole. Satisfy your inner culture vulture at Provenance Arts and Darwin Military Museum. A neat, cosmopolitan city of shaded plazas and laid-back neighborhoods, Cairns serves as a popular base for exploration of the surrounding region and the Great Barrier Reef, as well as a center for watersport activities like surfing or waterskiing.
Visit Thornton Beach and Etty Bay for some beach relaxation. For shopping fun, head to Sunday Market Port Douglas or Doongal Aboriginal Art Gallery Cairns. Explore Cairns' surroundings by going to Tolga Woodworks Gallery & Cafe (in Tolga), Babinda Boulders (in Babinda) and Historic Village Herberton (in Herberton). Spend the 23rd (Tue) wandering through the wild on a nature and wildlife tour. There's still lots to do: don't miss a visit to St Mary’s by The Sea chapel, learn about all things military at The Australian Armour & Artillery Museum, kick back and relax at Wonga Beach, and do a tasting at Shannonvale Tropical Fruit Winery.
