Named after Lord Byron's grandfather, Byron Bay is not only famous as the easternmost point of Australia, but even more so as one of the liveliest vacation spots in the country.
Take a break from the city and head to Cape Byron Walking Track and Lennox Head Beach. Cape Byron Lighthouse and Tweed Regional Gallery & Margaret Olley Art Centre are good opportunities to explore the local culture. You'll find plenty of places to visit near Byron Bay: Watersports Guru (in Kingscliff), Yamba (Turners Beach & Pippi Beach) and Teven Valley Golf Course (in Teven). Spend the 22nd (Tue) exploring nature at Arakwal National Park. And it doesn't end there: enjoy the sand and surf at Broken Head Beach, relax and rejuvenate at some of the top local wellness centers, tour the pleasant surroundings at Tallow Beach, and get interesting insight from Tours.

A neat, cosmopolitan city of shaded plazas and laid-back neighborhoods, Cairns serves as a popular base for exploration of the surrounding region and the Great Barrier Reef, as well as a center for watersport activities like surfing or waterskiing.
Daintree Discovery Centre and Bones and Jones are good opportunities to explore the local culture. Step out of the city life by going to Safaris and Palm Cove Beach. Venture out of the city with trips to Palm Cove (Hartley's Crocodile Adventures, Kayaking & Canoeing, & more), Port Douglas (Wildlife Habitat Port Douglas & Four Mile Beach) and Thornton Beach (in Thornton Beach). Spend the 25th (Fri) among aquatic life with a scuba or snorkeling tour. Spend the 1st (Fri) exploring nature at Daintree National Park. There's still lots to do: tour the pleasant surroundings at Esplanade Boardwalk, enjoy the sand and surf at Trinity Beach, see the world from above with a helicopter tour, and take in the exciting artwork at Underart Gallery.
