Founded as a military outpost in 1826, Albany is the oldest town in Western Australia, just barely gaining this title by being settled two years earlier than Fremantle and Perth.
Your itinerary includes some good beach time at Middleton Beach and Cable Beach. Take a break from the city and head to Little Beach and Greens Pool. Venture out of the city with trips to Anvil Beach (in Denmark), Cheynes Beach (in Waychinicup National Park) and Cosy Corner Beach (in Kronkup). There's much more to do: enjoy the sand and surf at Nanarup Beach, take in the dramatic natural features at The Gap and Natural Bridge, and stroll through Betty's Beach.
