Port Augusta

A natural harbor established in 1852, Port Augusta houses one of the most popular tourist attractions of the area, the Wadlata Outback Center.
Change things up with these side-trips from Port Augusta: Whyalla (Whyalla Conservation Park, Whyalla Maritime Museum, & more), Port Pirie (Port Pirie Regional Tourism & Arts Centre, Port Pirie National Trust Museum, & more) and Dutchman's Stern Conservation Park (in Quorn). There's more to do: get great views at Water Tower Lookout and take in nature's colorful creations at Australian Arid Lands Botanic Garden.

For reviews, more things to do, and more tourist information, refer to the Port Augusta travel route tool .

In January in Port Augusta, expect temperatures between 35°C during the day and 21°C at night. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 4th (Fri) early enough to travel back home.
